What Is Gold’s Gym XRS 50?

Close up shot of Gold’s Gym Xrs 50

Gold’s Gym XRS 50 is a home gym pulley system coming with various training attachments, such as leg extension, lat pulldown, hamstring curl, and more.

It weighs 225 pounds and is built from high-quality steel material, made to last [1].

In addition, it comes with other attachments, such as a chest press/fly station and a high and low pulley system, which is excellent for back training and exercising each major muscle group [2].

Gold’s Gym XRS 50 has the capacity to withstand a user of up to 300 lb and comes with a 90-day warranty. Furthermore, it weighs 102 kg and takes up a decent amount of space in the home gym due to its extensive attachments.

"If you’ve got the space and a bit of a starter budget, you’re in luck. Building a home gym isn’t as hard or as intimidating as it might sound."

XRS 50 Workout Programs & Exercise Options

Gold’s Gym XRS 50 provides different training options, including chest presses, leg extension/curls, and triceps extension/curls.

In addition, Gold’s Gym XRS 50 features a perfect high and low pulley system that is enough to build your entire back due to different angles [3].

This home gym comes with a 4-roll leg developer, including previously mentioned leg extension/curls, but leg abduction and adduction too.

You can use the chest press station for bilateral pressing and for performing machine flyes, which are excellent exercises for building your chest further [4].

You can also use other attachments like a straight bar and lat pull-down bar to diversify your training with different back, triceps, and biceps exercises.

Gold's Gym XRS 50 Home Gym Features

A person online shopping for gym machines online

Gold’s Gym XRS 50 is an excellent all-around home gym equipment and pulley system that allows you to perform a full body workout without compromising your joints and risking getting injured.

The Gold’s Gym XRS 50 has evolved over time and today has additional features that set it from all the previous models (all features are mentioned below).

Here are some of the most important factors you should consider buying a Gold’s Gym XRS 50.

Material

Gold’s Gym XRS 50 is built from high-quality metal and vinyl, representing a solid combination for overall machine durability.

Also, it comes with a vinyl weight stack, including a total of 112 lb of weight.

I found that the whole machine is solid and stiff, as most attachments are made from high-quality metal. In addition, the sewn vinyl seats are made from durable and comfortable material.

Shipping

A person shipping a box

The shipping of Gold's Gym XRS 50 was excellent.

The home gym came in one piece, and none of the attachments or machine parts was damaged.

In addition, it arrived well-packed after just a couple of days of ordering it online.

I could start assembling it right from the box, and the instructions provided with the machine were enough to do it alone.

Cost

Gold’s Gym XRS 50 ranges anywhere from $350 to $450. That is more than affordable compared to the other home gym machines from the same category.

For the previously mentioned price range, you get everything you need to perform lower-body and upper-body core workouts at home to build massive muscles.

Installation

A person looking at installation instructions for a gym machine

Gold's Gym XRS 50 installation was straightforward, and the instructions provided were enough for me to assemble it on my own.

However, since this home gym machine is massive, you could use the help of a friend.

Also, it took me more than 4 hours to assemble the machine fully, which isn't that much compared to the rest of the machines from the category and similar attachment options.

Safety

Gold’s Gym XRS 50 is a safe home gym pulley machine.

You can use the machine for all sorts of workouts and exercises without worrying about injuring yourself.

There is enough space to train all major body parts, including your lower and upper body muscles.

You will probably need a little more space in your home gym around the machine to make it even safer since it is already massive.

Pros
  • The weight stack offers a variety
  • It isn't that hard to put together
  • The lower pulley generates a lot more resistance than the upper
  • Has 20-plus exercises to choose from
Cons
  • It's not meant for anyone a bit tall or wide

How to Use Gold’s Gym XRS 50?

To use Gold’s Gym XRS 50, you need to assemble it first and put all its attachments as explained in the instructions.

After you assemble Gold’s Gym XRS 50, you can use it for more than 20 exercises in total and perform various upper body, lower body, and core workouts (exercise chart included).

Some exercises you can perform include chest presses, chest flyes, lat pulldowns, ab crunches, high and low rows to develop your back, and more.

In addition, you can also use the leg extension and leg curl attachment to further develop your leg muscles.

Who Should Buy Gold's Gym XRS 50 Home Gym?

A person online shopping on his phone

Everybody looking to stay in shape at home, save money on a gym membership, and enjoy more than 20 exercises for building their whole body should buy Gold’s Gym XRS 50 Home Gym.

It is a solid home gym machine that offers the important parts and attachments responsible for developing a well-rounded muscular body.

You can divide your weekly routine into 3 to 4 sessions, consisting of a day building your chest/biceps, back/triceps, lower body, and core muscles.

Who Shouldn’t Buy It?

Everybody not planning to use these home gym machines at least a couple of times a week shouldn't buy Gold's Gym XRS 50.

In addition, if you are not a fan of a full body workout and prefer free weights training more, there is no need to purchase this machine.

If you want to work out only a certain part of your body, you don't need to buy a whole home gym machine.

Buying a home gym machine is an investment, and it should be treated accordingly, meaning you shouldn't buy something you won't use fully or only a couple of times a month.

Where to Buy It and What Is the Price?

A person holding a credit card and a phone

You can buy Gold's Gym XRS 50 on Amazon, and the price is between $250 and $350.

All orders from Amazon usually get processed quickly, and they have awesome customer support that will help you if anything bad goes with your Gold's Gym XRS 50 home gym.

Also, the price range is solid for this category of home gym equipment, and I would say even affordable.

"There are a lot of perks to working out at home. For one, you’ll save time and gas by not having to commute to the gym."

Shipping and Delivery

A delivery man at the back of his truck

Shipping and delivery for Gold's Gym XRS 50 are handled by Amazon. When I ordered the machine to test it in my home gym, I received it within less than 7 business days of ordering it online.

In addition, the Gold's Gym XRS 50 came fully functional, and no pieces were damaged.

It came packed into multiple boxes to ensure the pieces don't damage each other in a single box upon shipping.

I would need to add that a few screwdrivers were missing from the box, but that's not big of a deal since you probably have those at home already.

Comparing the Gold's Gym XRS 50 With Alternatives

A person working out on a home gym machine

If you are unsure whether Gold’s Gym XRS 50 is the right piece of fitness equipment for your home gym, consider some alternatives.

All of them have similar specs, like the Gold’s Gym XRS 50, but some are, in my opinion, even better in specific body workout situations.

Monster Rack Mount Lat Pulldown Seat+Low Row Kit

Rogue has some excellent home gym options, and a Monster rack with a lat pull-down seat and a low bar kit is just one of those machines.

I tested this Rogue machine, and I can tell it is built from the highest-quality steel and offers stability and rigidness as no other machine does.

It comes with a lat pull-down seat, low row kit, and grip triangle attachments to ensure meeting the full body workout needs.

In addition, the cables are just made of amazing quality, running smoothly with as little friction as possible. However, the Gold’s Gym XRS 50 is more affordable and has similar features, so the extra price you pay for the Monster Rack may not be worth it.

Marcy Multifunction Steel Home Gym

A person working out on the Marcy Multifunction Steel Home Gym

Marcy Multifunction steel home gym is a compact home gym solution since it doesn't take up much space.

It comes with an awesome pec deck, leg developer, and a lat pull-pulldown bar to ensure you work out every single part of your body.

In addition, it has a total of 200 lbs of resistance which will be enough for most lifters.

Lastly, it is constructed from heavy-duty steel to ensure a long-lasting piece of fitness equipment.

However, one downside is that the cable of the lat pull-down wears off quickly.

Also, both Marcy Multifunction and Gold’s Gym XRS 50 are built from high-quality steel material, but the Gold’s Gym has a more stable construction, in my opinion.

Body-Solid Strengthtech EXM2500S Home Gym

Body-Solid Strengthtech EXM2500S home gym is built from high-quality steel and comes with a powder coat finish.

In addition, it comes with a pec station, leg developer, press arm, and high, mid, and low pulleys, which adds to exercise versatility.

One of the things I like about this machine is it comes with a lifetime warranty, making you less worried about breaking up.

However, it isn't the most recommended compact machine for home gyms with less free space available. This is why I would pick Gold’s Gym XRS 50 over the Body-Solid Home Gym.
