Tons of pre-workouts in the market are built on buzzwords, so I'm pretty skeptical of the super-popular products on the internet.

Alani Nu is one of the newest supplement lines in the market, and they're super popular on Instagram.

It promises to be the pre-workout that pushes you through your workouts so that you can achieve your fitness goals faster.

I've researched its ingredients, talked to some users, and tried this supplement myself to find out.

In this Alani Nu pre-workout review, I'm going to cover all my conclusions.

What is Alani Nu Pre-Workout?

Alani Nu Pre-Workout supplement product

Alani Nu Pre-workout is part of the wide range of Alani Nu sports supplements created by fitness influencers Katy Hearn and Haydn Schneider. It contains pure stimulants for cleaner energy and focus-boosting ingredients for mental power during workouts.

Katy Hearn said she built her supplement company based on the needs of women she's worked with and the ingredients she's comfortable using. They have many other sports supplements, such as Alani Nu Whey Protein, BCAA, and Pump.

Alani Nu is mainly aimed to help women, but it can be used by men too.

They are entirely transparent with their label and pride themselves in their gluten-free and vegan-friendly supplements.

Let's dig into what Alani Nu is made of.

Supplement facts of Alani Nu Pre-Workout

The first thing that impressed me with Alani Nu is that it contains a few simple and quality pre-workout ingredients that are clinically proven to work.

Secondly, their ingredients are adequately dosed, unlike other pre-workouts that are either overdosed or underdosed.

I love that they're very transparent with their labels, and there are no hidden blends in this pre-workout supplement.

L-Citrulline Malate 2:1 - 6 g - Combining L-Citrulline and malic acid together produces L-Citrulline Malate. Alani Nu contains 4 grams of L-Citrulline and 2 grams of malic acid.

L-Citrulline is a better option than L-arginine because L-Citrulline can get past the stomach acids smoother and reach the system.

Taking L-Citrulline Malate increases the body's nitric oxide (NO) levels, which improves blood flow, allowing more oxygen and nutrients to reach the muscles [1].

With that, you can gain more muscular endurance and power to exercise longer and gain more strength.

With that, you can gain more muscular endurance and power to exercise longer and gain more strength.

Caffeine (Coffea arabica bean extract) - 200 mg - We are all familiar with Caffeine’s effects- it helps increase energy levels, boosts focus, and enhance power output.

An interesting thing with Alani Nu pre-workout is that instead of using Caffeine Anhydrous (usually used in pre-workouts), which is a super-strong kind of Caffeine, they use Caffeine from Coffee Bean Extract.

Super strong Caffeine can cause over-stimulating effects for some, such as anxiety, and it can be harmful to the skin.

Since Alani Nu aims to create supplements that are good for the overall health, they use Caffeine that's a lot more natural and has a better effect on the skin.

This way, you gain energy and focus while maintaining healthy skin.

L-Tyrosine - 500 mg - L-tyrosine is another mood-boosting and focus-boosting ingredient in Alani Nu pre-workout.

L-tyrosine helps produce the mood-enhancing chemical dopamine, resulting in increased focus, enjoyment, and a better workout overall.

L-Theanine - 200 mg - I'm happy to see L-theanine in this pre-workout supplement.

"Consuming large amounts of Caffeine can make your agitated brain work against your efforts to focus.

L-Theanine is an alternative approach that makes the brain stay balanced and focused, so you don't get distracted from performing your best.

- Shaun Goodsell, Sports Performance Consultant

It's an amino acid from green tea extract and calms down nervous brain functions [2]. It helps balance the effects of stimulants, making you energized and focused without the overstimulated feeling.

Beta-Alanine - 1.6 g - Beta-alanine is a non-essential amino acid (the body can produce them), which helps reduce lactic acid levels and muscle fatigue.

This ingredient helps you get past the pain during training; for example, if you usually feel the pain around 10-12 reps, with Beta-alanine, you're not going to feel the pain until around 13-14 reps.

If you can push past the pain threshold, you can push yourself harder for your fitness goals.

Other Alani Nu Pre-Workout ingredients include:

  • Sodium Citrate
  • Silica
  • Natural and Artificial Flavors
  • Sucralose
  • Turmeric Extract
  • Acesulfame Potassium

Delivers Calmed and Sustained Energy

If you're looking for an ultimate boost in energy, you won’t find it in Alani Nu pre-workout.

Alani Nu provides smooth energy levels that hold longer, which is pretty much what you need to push through grueling sessions.

The good thing is that this pre-workout contains 200 mg of Caffeine, which is a sweet spot for those who don't have much Caffeine tolerance. L-theanine is also a great addition to balance the overstimulating effects of Caffeine.

In my experience, Alani Nu is a pretty mild pre-workout, not off-the-charts energy - you'll feel energized to start and finish off your workout schedule.

I've had the same experience as most users- pretty mild effects without any craziness or jitters. I also didn't experience any crashes at all.

Boosts Endurance

Alani Nu is also well formulated for giving the pumps you need for your workout routine with L-Citrulline Malate and Beta-alanine.

In many positive reviews, users said they're noticing a difference in their workouts as they can exercise for longer and feel less muscle fatigue.

I also didn't have the tingling effects, thanks to a relatively low dosage of Beta-alanine.  There's increased endurance while the pumps aren't overly intense. You can do more reps and exercise longer.

Some clients have asked if it can help them lose weight. I doubt that it can because it doesn't work like fat burners.

However, though it doesn't directly help you burn calories, it can boost your workout performance, which, coupled with a balanced diet, can help you lose pounds.

Improves Mental Focus and Mood

Caffeine with L-tyrosine delivers mental awareness to improve conscious muscle contraction and improve your exercise performance overall.

In my experience, it helped me get excited to hit the gym, enjoy each set, and improve my overall performance.

I was most impressed with the boost in concentration. It gave me sharp focus and helped me get out of my demotivated state to start crushing my workouts.

L-theanine reduces the over-stimulating effects of Caffeine and L-tyrosine and gives you sharp focus.

Pros
  • Boosts mental focus
  • Gluten-free and vegan product
  • Positive reviews on an energy boost
  • Great taste with different flavors
Cons
  • It causes a tingling effect for some users
  • It could cause jitters and nausea

How to Take It?

Here's how you can take Alani Nu:

  1. Test your tolerance for the first week or two by mixing half a scoop of the pre-workout powder in 6-8 ounces of water. Take this 20-30 minutes before your workout.
  2. Once your body gets used to the effects, go for a full scoop in 10-12 ounces of water.

Alani Nu's pre-workout, like many other pre-workout powders, aims to improve exercise performance and enhance your workouts. The recommended dosing strategy of starting with half a scoop allows you to assess your tolerance to the product's stimulating effects gradually.

Once you're comfortable, moving up to a full scoop can provide optimal benefits. However, it's essential to follow the manufacturer's guidelines and avoid taking pre-workout twice a day to prevent overstimulation.

Taking two servings 4 hours apart can lead to excess caffeine intake, which may result in jitteriness and disrupted sleep patterns. For individuals with a sensitive medical condition or pregnant, it's crucial to prioritize safety and consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating any supplement, including pre-workout, into their fitness routine.

By using Alani Nu's pre-workout responsibly and adhering to recommended dosages, you can potentially experience improved exercise performance, increased focus, and reduced muscle soreness to optimize your workout experience.

For those who crave variety, Alani Nu's pre-workout comes in delightful flavors like Hawaiian shaved ice, providing an enjoyable and refreshing way to power up your workouts. To get a better understanding of how this pre-workout has worked for others, consider reading Alani pre-workout reviews online to gather insights and experiences from fellow users.

Ultimately, combining the right supplement with a balanced diet and a well-structured exercise regimen can contribute to better fitness results and overall well-being.

Also, if you're pregnant or have any medical condition, it's best to consult your medical provider before taking any supplements.

Are There Any Side Effects?

disgusted woman

Alani Nu Pre-Workout has a few potential side effects. Let's discuss each of them below.

May Experience a Tingling Effect Because of Beta-Alanine

Like any pre-workout with Beta-alanine, Alani Nu might also cause an itchy or tingling sensation.

The tingling effect starts after 15 minutes and can last up to 30 minutes.

A few users reported having the tingling effect, but not as intense as with some other pre-workouts.

May Cause Stimulant Effects (Nausea, Sleeplessness, or Jitters)

This pre-workout can cause adverse side effects, such as nausea, restlessness, or jitters, to users with low Caffeine tolerance.

If you're Caffeine intolerant, it's better to test your reaction by first taking half a scoop of this supplement before going for a whole serving.

Some of my clients, who work out during nighttime, usually take a quarter of a dose and mix it with the Alani Nu Pump (it doesn't contain Caffeine).

You will not get the same energy levels, but at least you will get some sleep. Always remember that getting proper amounts of sleep is necessary to ensure wellness and motivation. If you can't have the recommended hours of rest, you'll likely feel unmotivated and irritable the next day.

Alani Nu Pre-Workout User Reviews

Here are some happy customers of Alani Nu pre-workout:

Paige had some major side effects from other products, so she was excited to find a pre-workout that finally worked well. As she claims, the best part was the improvement in focus and that there were no jitters or crazy heart rate.

- Paige, Texas, USA

Alani Nu gets Danielle energized and motivated to work out. She doesn’t get any crazy tingling effect, and she said that it tastes pretty good too.

- Danielle, Georgia, USA

These users had negative feedback on Alani Nu pre-workout.

Elle didn't feel energized or pumped at all. It just didn’t work for her.

- Elle, California, USA

Kayla claims that Alani Nu does its job as a pre-workout - gives a good pump and focus, but the quality of the powder put her off.

- Kayla, South Carolina, USA

How Does It Compare to Other Pre-Workout Supplements?

To really test Alani Nu’s performance, we tested it against three popular pre-workout supplements.

Gorilla Mode

Created by the team behind the popular nootropic Gorilla Mind Rush, Gorilla Mode is packed with vital ingredients that can give you an extra edge during your workouts.

Gorilla Mode is specifically designed to boost levels of nitric oxide and contains crucial components like L-citrulline (4500 mg), creatine monohydrate (2500 mg), and betaine (1250 mg).

Our test group found Gorilla Mode to be exceptionally effective, but it’s not just the ingredients that set it apart. Our testers found it simple to mix, and the effects kicked in fast.

Gorilla Mode contains 175 mg of caffeine compared to Alani Nu’s 200 mg. During testing, I found the caffeine content in Gorilla Mode was enough to boost energy without causing any adverse effects.

One of the great things about Gorilla Mode is the range of delicious flavors, with Tiger’s Blood being a particular favorite among our team. I ordered from the website and received a good discount on our multi-tub order.

4 Gauge

This pre-workout was developed in collaboration with nutrition experts and elite athletes to deliver a potent boost for those intense workout sessions.

Our testers reported impressive results with enhanced focus and energy. They felt the 150 mg was enough for a good energy boost without jitters or crashes.

I liked that the 150 mg didn’t force me to alter my morning coffee-drinking habit, and by adding L-theanine to the formula, I experienced a noticeable increase in focus.

Containing 6000 mg of L-citrulline, 4 Gauge offers the same amount as Alani Nu. However, 4 Gauge does not have beta-alanine like Alani Nu, so users didn’t experience a bothersome tingling sensation, a common side effect.

While 4 Gauge is a little more expensive than Alani Nu, I secured a 3-for-1 deal and shipping when ordering directly from the website for our testing.

Transparent Labs BULK.

Transparent Labs PreSeries Bulk Pre-workout has long been a top choice for serious athletes and gym goers, so we included it in our testing.

With 8000 mg of citrulline malate, PreSeries Bulk surpasses Alani Nu’s 6000 mg.

Our own test group put PreSeries Bulk to the test and found that it mixed well and provided real, noticeable benefits to energy and focus. With popular flavor options like strawberry lemonade and sour grape, there’s something for everyone’s taste buds.

Like Alani Nu, PreSeries bulk contains beta-alanine; though I did not experience any bothersome tingling, some users in our test group did. The good thing is this sensation is temporary, and there is no cause for alarm.

PreSeries Bulk also utilizes the optimal combination of caffeine and L-theanine, which boosts energy and focus throughout the day.

Go directly to the official website like I did to order for testing, and you will find competitive pricing, auto-delivery options, special deals, and free shipping.

Is Alani Nu Pre-Workout Worth the Hype?

Alani Nu is worth the hype because of its science-backed claims and positive feedback from other users. It helps support your diet and nutrition and sure can support your fitness and health goals.

This product can be an excellent choice for beginners and those tired of over-stimulating pre-workouts because it's a pretty mild pre-workout.

I love that it contains a pretty detailed list of clean and clinically effective ingredients with no fluff or hidden blends, and it provides:

  • Smooth energy levels
  • Increased mental power
  • Boost in the pumps

If you're not sure about Alani Nu, you can also try their sample and see the effects for yourself.

You might also want to look into Powher Pre-workout.
