One of the biggest changes I have seen as a personal trainer in the supplement industry is that the number and quality of vegan protein supplements have significantly improved.

And one protein powder my dietitian highlighted recently comes from Future Kind. Her initial research was extremely positive for the protein content and quality, so we decided to run a test with some of my clients.

And with the help of these strict plant-based dieters, we were able to get an honest assessment of this vegan protein supplement.

What Is Future Kind Vegan Protein Powder?

Future Kind vegan protein powder is a dietary supplement for athletes who are on a strictly plant-based diet.

However, any non-vegan athlete can also diversify their protein intake with this vanilla flavored protein powder.

Future Kind is one of the leading supplement brands for vegans, and the company has also made sure that they only use eco-friendly packaging along with buying carbon offsets for a minimal environmental impact.

One of the stand-out features of Future Kind is the quality of the organically sourced pea protein. This should give you a high degree of safety with an easy-to-absorb product [1].

What Are the Advantages of Future Kind Protein Powder?

The advantages of Future Kind Protein Powder are high protein content, pleasant flavor, and low carbs and fat.

The first thing to highlight is the solid dose of 20g of protein per scoop. For the majority of athletes, that’s going to be an ideal amount for a post-workout shake [2].

We also all loved the vanilla flavor, and it seems to work best when you blend it with unsweetened almond milk. It just gives it a nice and smooth texture.

The other thing we liked is that there are only traces of carbs and no fat at all.

That should make all dieting efforts a lot easier as you really just need to keep track of the protein intake.

What Are the Drawbacks of Future Kind Protein Powder?

The drawbacks of Future Kind Protein Powder are bloating and overall stomach issues.

However, we did not experience any side effects while trying this supplement.

I spent many hours looking through hundreds of online reviews and comments, and I could only find very few reviews that highlighted stomach discomfort after taking this product.

A few people commented that they felt a little bloated after taking two or more scoops of protein powder.

But that would be the same, possibly even worse, with protein supplements based on animal products [4].

"If you just drank a protein shake and are experiencing stomach pain, be sure to drink plenty water. Hydrating and drinking ginger or peppermint tea are basically the only thing you can do to reduce pain in the short term."

- Jack Shrupp, Fitness Editor

Pros
  • Contains 20 grams of protein per serving
  • Protein shake without fat and with very little carbs
  • Great tasting vanilla protein powder that mixes easily
  • Good bulk order and subscription discounts available
Cons
  • Some more flavor options would be great

Where Should You Buy It?

You should only buy Future Kind protein powder directly on the company website.

There are too many counterfeit supplements out there to be taking a risk with something that you will put in your body.

It’s also the only place where you will get great bulk and subscription discounts. You can save quite a lot by getting a monthly delivery.

Future Kind promises delivery within 3-5 days, and the three times that I placed an order, it arrived within 2-3 days, which is a bonus if you suddenly run low on protein.

What Are the Ingredients In Future Kind?

The ingredients in Future Kind are pea protein powder, organic flavors, stevia, and Guar gum.

Here is a quick overview of what’s on the protein powder label.

Organic Pea Protein

Future Kind has chosen pea protein as a great source of amino acids. And while they might not be as fast to digest as whey protein, there is evidence that it’s easier on the stomach [3].

It’s an important factor for anyone who is dairy or lactose intolerant.

Organic Flavors

Future Kind only uses a natural vanilla flavor rather than synthetic ones. And our testing team all said that they noticed how much better it tasted compared to other vegan protein powders.

Organic Stevia

We also found that there are no artificial sweeteners in this powder. Instead, the company uses natural stevia in what seems to be a low dose to avoid becoming too sweet.

Organic Guar Gum

This helps to give Future Kind protein powders a thick and creamy texture, which adds to the taste experience.

Other User Reviews

I gathered a few user reviews from the company website to show you that others seem to agree with our assessment.

“Tastes great in my morning smoothie! I love the clean, limited ingredients. Would definitely buy again.”

- Michelle Thomas, Company Reviews

“This is my favorite vegan protein powder. It, by far, mix’s better than any other vegan protein powder I have tried. The chocolate flavor is not overly sweet and no fake sugar taste. I haven’t had any GI distress (gas) using this product. The macros are definitely decent. I love the goal of the company. I was surprised at what a great job they did with this powder as it seems vitamins appear to be the lion share of their product line.”

How It Compares To Other Protein Powders

We took a look at how Future Kind Protein Powder compared to three leading competitors. Here’s what we learned.

Transparent Labs

You’re going to get slightly more protein in a serving of Transparent Labs ProteinSeries Vegan than in Future Kind. Transparent Labs contains 24 grams of organic pea and rice proteins, while Future Kind has 20 grams of pea protein.

Transparent Labs offers traditional chocolate and vanilla flavors but not an unflavored option like Future Kind.

Our test group users thought the transparent lab's flavors were tasty and mixed up better than Future Kind.

Transparent Labs has a shorter ingredient list with protein, stevia, natural flavor, and Himalayan salt.

Given the short list of high-quality ingredients, I was surprised to see that Transparent Labs ProteinSeries Vegan was less expensive than Future Kind.

I ordered our testing directly from the official website, where, if you like it, there is a subscription service that keeps the product coming at a discount with free shipping.

Ritual Essential Protein

Ritual Essential Protein offers 20 grams of pea protein, just like Future Kind.

There is only one flavor available: vanilla. The consensus in our test group was the flavor was okay, not great, and could have been a little sweeter.

Ritual contains a bit more sodium at 290 mg than Future Kind’s 250, which is worth noting for those users who need to track their sodium intake closely.

I mixed Ritual with my morning smoothie, and it was okay; others in our test group mixed it with water and said it wasn’t the smoothest protein powder they had ever had.

Ritual Essential Protein is priced at a premium and more expensive than Future Kind. At the time I ordered for testing, there was a deal going on if you bundled. I needed just the protein, so I didn’t receive any special pricing or free shipping.

Onnit Whey Protein

ONNIT offers a gluten, sugar, and soy-free protein powder using grass-fed whey isolate sourced from New Zealand dairy cows.

There are 20 grams of whey isolate, which our dietitians say offers several benefits over concentrated whey protein, and the fact it comes from grass-fed cows leads to higher quality milk.

The formula also includes sunflower oil, MCT oil, and digestive enzymes. Some users report bloating, but that is not a side effect that any of us in our test group experienced.

Our test group, myself included mixed one scoop with eight ounces of water immediately after working out. It mixed better blending versus shaking, resulting in a nice creamy texture. We enjoyed the Mexican chocolate and vanilla flavors, with many agreeing that the vanilla was the better flavor.

Pricing for ONNIT Whey Protein is on par with Future Kind; however, I ordered three tubs for our testing and received free shipping. I received the order in about five days.

FAQs

Is Plant-Based Protein Powder Better?

Yes, plant-based protein powder is better for many people. This is not only the case for vegans and those with dairy intolerance. However, athletes can benefit from diversifying their protein sources and not becoming reliant on just whey.

Is Future Kind An Organic Supplement?

Yes, Future Kind is an organic supplement. All of the contents of the protein powder are based on organic ingredients, including guar gum and stevia for flavor and texture.

Should You Try This Protein Isolate?

While our testing team agreed that the vanilla flavor is quite tasty, we can’t recommend this protein powder as the absolute best vegan option out there.

That title goes to Transparent Labs Vegan Protein, as most of our vegan clients have been raving about it for years now.

In addition to 24 grams of high-quality pea and rice protein, this product also contains all the essential amino acids without including any artificial ingredients, GMOs, dairy, or soy, making it a much more natural and wholesome supplement for vegans.

Give it a try to experience the benefits firsthand.
