Alec Baldwin is one of the most famous American actors, and like many celebrities, he developed many unhealthy habits over the years.

With natural aging in the mix, even celebrities can face an alarming wake-up call when it comes to their health and weight.

Since Baldwin went through quite a drastic physical change, it got our attention, so our team spent a day going through interviews and videos to see what he did to lose all that weight.

Here’s what we found.

Quick Summary

  • Alec Baldwin made poor diet and lifestyle choices for many years that ultimately made him obese and pre-diabetic.

Even with all the fame of movies, TV shows, and Primetime Emmy Awards, it’s possible for a superstar actor to get tempted by junk food and get “lost” on the way to the gym.

But what this story shows is that even men in their 60s who are packing too much weight can make a full u-turn and achieve quite astonishing amounts of fat reduction.

Stats

  • Born: April 3, 1958
  • Height: 5’11”
  • Starting Weight: 300 lbs
  • Total Weight Loss: 100 lbs

Who Helped Alec Baldwin Lose Weight?

Actor and SNL star Pete Davidson helped Alec Baldwin to lose weight with a conversation that happened during a brief shirtless encounter.

On the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Davidson mentioned that he accidentally helped Alec Baldwin.

Baldwin asked Davidson how he got so ripped, and he jokingly answered, “100 push-ups and 100 sit-ups every day.”

Alec took that as exercise advice and started doing it.

His wife has also played a key role in the process as she influenced his dietary changes and daily menu at work while also providing motivational support.

This sounds a bit like a made-up comedy story, but Alec Baldwin actually confirmed this story during an interview on the Howard Stern Show.

How Did He Change His Diet?

Alec Baldwin changed his diet by removing all the foods which are high in sugar and refined carbohydrates.

The main reason for this approach was a trip to the doctor.

Some routine tests showed that his blood sugar was at pre-diabetic levels, and all of it was fueled by being morbidly overweight [1].

And it was this blood sugar problem that put Baldwin at risk of chronic disease that could have life-limiting impacts for a man in his 60s.

His wife played a key role in monitoring what he ate and ultimately making suggestions on things to avoid and cut out.

Refined carbohydrates, often found in processed foods and sugary treats, were among the items that Alec Baldwin consciously eliminated from his diet.

By cutting down on these highly processed carbs, Baldwin took a proactive step in managing his blood sugar levels and reducing the risk of potential health complications.

During a recent appearance on the renowned "Tonight Show," Baldwin spoke about his dietary changes and acknowledged the valuable support and guidance he received from his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, throughout the journey.

“I quietly watched what he ate, only mentally jotting down my secret wish list of what I'd tell him if he asked.”

Does Alec Baldwin Eat Meat?

Yes, Alec Baldwin does eat meat, but it seems to be limited in his diet [2].

He did, at one stage, become a vegetarian, but there are reports of him having a hotdog.

I actually couldn’t find any recent statement from Baldwin about avoiding meat, but the important thing for you readers is that my dietitian said that becoming vegan isn’t a necessity for replicating his results.

What’s His Exercise Routine?

Alec Baldwin’s initial exercise routine for weight loss was entirely based on sit-ups and push-ups, as instructed by the “advice” he got from his colleague Davidson.

I personally think that 100 sit-ups and push-ups can be a real killer, especially for someone starting out, so I wouldn’t advise all my readers to do this.

While I couldn’t find anything about a detailed fitness plan, based on my experience as a fitness coach, I’d say that Alex does a mix of cardio workouts for fat loss and strength training at least four days a week.

“Then he got the Donald Trump gig on SNL, and so I would see him every week. And every time I'd run into him in the hall, he'd be like, '100 a day!' And he started to do it, and he lost like 100 pounds.”

Alec’s Supplements

While I couldn’t find any specific details about supplements that Alec Baldwin regularly uses, I got my dietitian to provide some insights, given his accomplishments.

In addition to a good protein powder, one other supplement she mentioned that made the most sense would be a fat burner.

These contain natural ingredients that help to suppress your appetite and slightly boost your metabolism.

They aren’t magic pills but combined with hard work at the gym and a balanced diet, they can speed things up a bit.

Take Inspiration From This Weight Loss Journey

You don’t need to follow the advice Alec Baldwin did and just do sit-ups and push-ups all day. But with the right combination of increasing your exercise intensity and regularity, removing bad habits, and eating healthy food, you’ll start seeing drastic results on the scales.

And if you want to speed things up a bit more, then try out one of our recommended fat-burning supplements:

Most of our testing data results show that they can speed up the weight loss process and significantly help with motivation along the way.
