5 Effects Testosterone Boosting Has on the Body

This is one of the first questions I get as a personal fitness trainer when I suggest that my male clients over 30 get checked out for low testosterone levels. The thing is that most people simply associate testosterone boosting with professional athletes who want to cheat.

But testosterone therapy is not the kind of approach I would recommend for men. There are much less radical ways to boost testosterone production using completely natural herbs, vitamins, and minerals.

The research I have done with my dietitian has helped so many of my clients with measured results in T-levels, BMI, strength, and many other health markers.

The first thing you need to understand, though, is how these boosters might influence your body.

Quick Summary

  • Boosting testosterone levels increases sperm production, increases libido, relieves stress, facilitates the growth of hair, and increases muscle mass.
  • Testosterone should only be boosted if they are below the recommended levels.
  • Over-the-counter testosterone boosters take between 4-8 weeks for results to be felt.

How Does Testosterone Boosting Affect Your Body?

Testosterone plays a role in more than your bedroom activities, and long-term testosterone deficiency can have a significant impact on your general health.

Here are the main areas a boost may provide benefits.

1. Reproductive System

The male body is heavily reliant on the levels of testosterone for sperm production. During puberty, it's that surge in testosterone that increases the size of the testicles and penis, all in preparation for developing the reproductive system [1].

And the reverse can happen as men grow older and experience low testosterone levels. That's why men should aim to produce more testosterone if they plan to have a baby.

2. Sexual Activity

Your testosterone will also play a key role in libido. There's a very good reason teenage boys have the highest libido. And when your testosterone levels drop too far, then it can lead to erectile dysfunction.

Boosting your natural ability to produce testosterone is one of the best ways to improve sexual function and reignite some bedroom fun with your partner [2].

3. Nervous System

There is a close relationship between testosterone and how certain parts of the brain interact.

Most people will understand that very high testosterone levels may lead to aggressive and dominant behavior [3]. But in most cases, that's down to sudden and very high spikes.

The T-boosters that I would recommend don't fall into the medical testosterone treatment category and would gradually produce an increase.

And the result of that could be a better balance between the sex hormone and stress hormone cortisol [4].

4. Skin And Hair

It's one of the most obvious signs of teenage boys getting into puberty when they start to develop facial and body hair. Another common and not so welcome side effect is acne.

What many people don't realize is that men with low testosterone levels can actually start to lose body hair. And then, when they do get a boost from medical testosterone treatment, they may develop skin conditions again [5].

That's why it's so important to stay on top of your T-levels and ideally boost them naturally.

5. Muscle Mass And Fat Storage

This is the main reason why athletes keep track of their testosterone levels. It plays a key role in increased muscle mass. But the effects of testosterone also impact how your body stores fat.

And it's a kind of vicious circle [6].

Low T-levels can signal that the body should store more fat, leading to decreased muscle mass. This, in turn, results in the pituitary gland signaling for less testosterone production.

Do All Men Need Testosterone Boosting?

My dietitian recommends that all men over 30 get a regular blood test done. This will, over time, show a gradual decrease in free testosterone, which is a completely natural thing to happen [7].

When low levels of testosterone go unnoticed, men can get into trouble with weight, cardiovascular disease, and bone density issues.

That's why it's best to take preventative action and then use some natural boosters to influence the adrenal glands and pituitary gland to request more testosterone.

Regular exercise, a rich in nutrients diet, and adequate sleep are important elements that contribute to overall hormonal balance and can significantly impact testosterone levels and bone health.

Men may maximize their testosterone levels and promote their overall well-being, including bone density, by emphasizing these lifestyle choices and obtaining professional help.

How Long Does It Take To Boost Testosterone?

With medical testosterone replacement therapy, it's possible to boost your levels of testosterone within a few days of receiving injections or a topical gel.

However, that's only something you should discuss with your doctor.

For a natural boost using over-the-counter supplements, you should expect that it will take about 4 to 8 weeks to see positive test results.

You can buy home test kits to validate that a supplement is having a good effect.

Are There Side Effects Of Boosting Testosterone?

With testosterone replacement therapy, there can be significant side effects from increased blood pressure to acne and mood swings to aggressive behavior.

But when your testosterone levels rise slowly over a few months, the negative effects are limited, especially when they just head back to the normal range.

Natural T-boosters will also not cause your levels to increase to very high levels where they could cause problems.

FAQs

Does Testosterone Boosting Make Men Aggressive?

No, natural testosterone boosting generally doesn't make men aggressive. This is more common with testosterone replacement therapy, especially when done by athletes for a performance boost when they don't have low levels to start with.

Is Boosting Testosterone Illegal?

No, naturally boosting your testosterone is not illegal. However, testosterone therapy should only be prescribed and monitored by a medical professional, and it is banned for professional athletes.

Are You Making Sure You Have A Normal Testosterone Level?

Testosterone deficiency is a reality for many men, and if it's left untreated, it can reduce bone mineral density, muscle tissue and significantly decrease erectile function.

The good news is that most men don't have to resort to testosterone therapy. Natural herb, vitamin, and mineral supplements can help you achieve normal testosterone levels within a few months.

And there shouldn't be any increased risk of side effects that medical treatments come with.
