Odwira 2023 Man Ghana Bodybuilding Championship: A New Era of Strength Sports
The Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA) is partnering with Fitnation and the 2023 Odwira Festival committee to bring the 16th Man Ghana Bodybuilding Championship to life.
This year, the event is set to take place on September 29 at the Akropong School of the Blind in Odwira village, as part of the 2023 Odwira Festival celebrations.
The championship, now dubbed the Odwira 2023 Man Ghana Bodybuilding Championship, will feature men’s physique and women’s bikini contests.
These events aim to promote the benefits of working out and having a nice body physique.
The victor will not only bag a trophy, medal, and cash prize, but also a golden ticket to join the national bodybuilding team, the Black Muscles, and the prestigious title of Mr Odwira.
Abdul Majeed Bawa, Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), praised GBFA’s decision to relocate the event from Accra to the Eastern region, adding a festive flavor to the championship.
“Bodybuilding is a grassroots sport with bases found in every corner of the country, and attaching it to a prestige festival like the Odwira festival is a great move that must be applauded by all,” he said.
“Apart from the event exposing the sport to the many revelers at the festival, it would promote tourism, and make it conducive for corporate Ghana. I know that with the right moves by the GBFA, there would be a lot of support for this event from corporate Ghana,” he added.
George Fausta Baffoe, Vice President of GBFA, explained that the move from Accra aims to expand the sport’s fan base.
Kwaku Fosuhene, an Odwira festival planning committee member, expressed gratitude to GBFA for their partnership and hoped for its continuity.
This event marks a new chapter in the history of strength sports in Ghana, promising an exciting blend of tradition, competition, and community spirit.
